Dinner, movies don't work on first dates

Three out of four Australians have claimed to be watching the clock during first dates, a new survey has revealed.

According to relationship councillor and author Elly Taylor, people are playing it too safe when planning the dates or not even planning them at all, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Taylor said that a dinner and a movie don't bring out the best in us, and wearing clothes that you wouldn't normally be dressed in and eating in front of someone new can bring anxiety.

Taylor told the publication that "test" dates were the best way to get to know another person as it goes for about an hour and will establish if there's any chemistry.
