'MISS INDIA IS A BIG THING IN SOUTH INDIA'

There's a watershed moment in everyone's life - a moment that changes your life for the better and brings all the luck and opportunities that you had been waiting for all along. Such moments are rare and so are the opportunities.

The iconic Femina Miss India pageant is one of the few such events in India that offers the opportunity of a lifetime to young and talented girls to showcase their strengths. Once they win the coveted title, the sky is the limit for them. Film offers, modelling assignments and brand endorsements start pouring in from everywhere. But unfortunately, not everyone wins. But not winning the title is in no way a defeat or loss. In fact, others too have an equally grand chance to make the best use of the PFMI platform to grab the feather of success.

Today we bring you the success stories of five such girls who made it big in their respective careers after participating in the prestigious PFMI pageant over the last few years. So what if they didn't win the pageant? What's commendable is that they made the most of every opportunity that came their way.

Taapsee Pannu was among the top 10 finalists for PFMI in the year 2008. During the pageant, she won two important sub-titles, the PFMI Miss Fresh Face and the Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin. Taapsee made her debut in acting in 2010 with a Telugu film called 'Jhummandi Naadam'. She went on to do several other critically acclaimed Telugu and Tamil films between 2010 and 2012 such as 'Aadukalam', 'Vastadu Naa Raju', 'Mr. Perfect', and 'Vandhaan Vendraan'. Finally she got her big break into Bollywood in 2013 with 'Chashme Baddoor', a remake of the 1981 comedy film starring Farooq Shaikh and Deepti Naval. Taapsee, who had already established her acting prowess in the South Indian film industry, was graciously welcomed into Bollywood after the critics gave her a thumbs-up for her performance in the film.
