I don’t tweet every moment of my life: John Abraham

John Abraham may have joined the social networking bandwagon lately, but he still isn’t ready to share every moment of his life online. “I am still very shy when it comes to the social media. I don’t tweet every moment of my life. Also, I believe that if you can learn to use social media

responsibly, only then you should use it, otherwise not,” says the 40-year-old actor. However, the one thing that is here to stay, is his two-day-old website —www.johnabraham.com — that has everything from his films, bikes, journals and even some unseen childhood shots of the actor. “My website went off air due to paucity of time. Now, after a long time, I have relaunched it, and it’s always going to be there as my single platform for interface with my audience,” says John.

With a stellar performance in Shootout at Wadala (SAW) in his kitty, John is a happy man. “I am glad that I got appreciated for my work in SAW. I feel that the audience likes to see me in action flicks because of my body, but for me the true appreciation is going to be when I am able to experiement with different kinds of roles,” says John, who will also be seen in Dostana 2.

And as he picks up meaty roles for himself, John says that he is equally passionate about his role as a producer. “As a producer, I look for strong content. I am not here to prove to the world that all my films will be commercially successful but I am here to make films that make sense.”

Not one to believe that only slapstick comedies work in India, John says that there is a need for mature films. “Filmmakers think that in India, it’s only ‘funny’ that works, but there is a section in the audience that doesn’t want to see only a Housefull or a Golmaal. They want something that’s far stronger in content, and that’s what I’ll look for in scripts as a producer,” he shares.

In fact, he says his next film, Madras Cafe, belongs to hat intelligent genre of films. “Madras Café is a defining film for Indian cinema. It is a structure that has never been attempted before. It’s a political thriller on the lines of Argo, or JFK or Syriana and I am very proud of it,” says the actor.
